Description
This little baby blanket was designed and knitted for our first grandchild William who was born in May 2022. At the time I wasn’t sure what the pattern would be named but upon William’s very early arrival it soon became clear.
William is our little miracle and he was born 6 weeks early and a tiny 1.4 kg. Our daughter had been in and out of hospital with pregnancy complications from about 24 weeks. William was in the NICU ward for many weeks and needed help to breath, had a little hole in his heart and so many tubes. Funnily the first thing our daughter wanted was clothing that would fit him when he got a little bigger than he currently was. I was feeling a little stressed worrying about both William and our daughter and I couldn’t find the clothing that was important for her too have for her own peace of mind. I tried many shops and they had nothing even remotely small enough. I decided to google and discovered Life’s Little Treasures Foundation. I rang them feeling a little frazzled and spoke to a lovely lady who went through everything with me, answered all my questions and made me feel better about what was happening. I cannot thank them enough for that phone call. They helped me source some small clothing and organised a precious parents package for our daughter. I went to collect the package as it turned out they are right near me in Ringwood, Victoria. The lady I originally spoken to on the phone had also put together some of her little pieces of clothing from when her son had been born under similar circumstances. I had a tour of the premises and plan to volunteer this year with some of the things they make for the packages. Please check out their website which shows all the wonderful things they are doing.
I have made this pattern free but would dearly love if you gave them a gold coin donation if you can afford it. Their website is https://lifeslittletreasures.org.au
